Frequently asked questions
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is a reversible encoding for carrying binary data as text. Anyone can decode it, so never use it to protect secrets.
Can a SHA hash be reversed?
Hashes are one-way. Short or common inputs can still be guessed, so do not rely on a bare hash to hide passwords.
Why is MD5 missing?
MD5 is broken for security use and is not available in the browser's built-in crypto API, so it is not offered here.
Does it handle non-English text?
Yes. Text is converted as UTF-8 before encoding or hashing.
